Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG are seeking Expressions of Interest for the following LEADER theme:

Theme: Rural Environment

Sub Theme: Development of Renewable Energy

Funding is on a competitive basis at a maximum rate of aid between 50% and 90% of the total eligible projects cost up to a maximum of €31,314 or whichever is the lesser. The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interests is Friday 20th March, 2020

The following table provides a guide to the available budget, the level of grant aid and details of project eligibility for Renewable Energy projects.

What can be funded: ·       General awareness raising on environmental issues and feasibility studies relating to green technologies;

·       Capacity building actions focusing on the installation and use of renewable energy technologies; and

·       Local projects involving technologies that deliver sustainable energy alternatives, for example, biomass heating, solar power, community wind farms and community-based heating systems

·       Energy Audits for community groups and enterprises.

What can’t be funded: ·       Projects with other sources of available funding, such as SEAI.

·       Work that falls under the remit of Cork County Council.

Who can be funded: ·       Community and Voluntary Groups.

·       Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

 

Proposed timeline:            

  • EOI Stage 1: The call opens on  Monday 2nd March 2020. You must submit your EOI on or before Friday 20th March, 2020. If you submit an EOI, you will get a letter or an email with details of the outcome of your EOI.
  • Application Stage 2: If you are successful at Stage 1, you must submit your application form and all supporting documents on or before 3rd July 2020.

Applicants for capital projects must provide proof of ownership/satisfactory lease of land/buildings and have full planning permission or a planning exemption at the time of application.

This is a Targeted Call and all Expressions of Interest received will referred to North Cork LAG for approval. All approved Expressions of Interest will be invited to submit a full LEADER project application thereafter.

LEADER supports micro, small and medium enterprises through projects such a construction, business expansion, purchase of new machinery and equipment, analysis and development and projects which show clear potential for rural employment opportunities. The budget for this Call is €50,000. The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interests is 27th January 2020.  The following table provides a guide to the available budget and the level off grant aid for a limited number of projects

Funding will not be awarded if it will result in an unacceptable level of displacement e.g. closure or loss of business for another enterprise elsewhere. Applicants for capital projects must provide proof of ownership/satisfactory lease of land/buildings and have full planning permission or a planning exemption at the time of application.

Ineligible Activities

  • Agriculture
  • Fisheries;
  • Conventional retail operations, excluding community based shops and farm shops selling locally 
produced produce;
  • Courses of instruction or training which form the part of normal education programmes or systems at secondary or higher levels. Note: This includes the rural development diploma and degree;
  • Loans;
  • Working capital (including stock);
  • Operational Costs of Project Promoters – salary/overheads etc.
  • Horticulture (including bee-keeping
  • Payments for gifts, donations or personal entertainments;
  • Statutory fines and penalties, criminal fines and damages
  • Costs associated with meeting a legislative or statutory requirement;
  • Application fees
  • Reclaimable VAT
  • Improvements/refurbishment of private residential property;
  • Projects that already have other EU funding either directly or through a national programme;
  • Conventional motor vehicles, including cars, industrial/farm/construction vehicles, trailer to 
transport such vehicles, vans and buses;
  • General maintenance works of public bodies;
  • Childcare;
  • Health Care & Health Care equipment; – unless in exceptional cases where approved by the
  • Nursing homes;
  • Housing
  • Race and sport horse industries*; (with the exception of ancillary activities for the provision of 
services to those industries);
  • Greyhound Industry.
